Origin of the Name Sikatuna
Prior to the creation of Sikatuna as a barangay, the place was popularly named “Cabangahan”, a kind of tree. The sitio was inhabited by few settlers. The name “Cabangahan” was disapproved by the local government officials. Instead, the name Sikatuna was recommended by the barrio folks in honor of the famous Boholano Chieftain noted for his friendliness as shown with his “Blood Compact” with Legaspi. This name was also derived from the hospitality and the friendliness of the barrio folks, so majority agreed to the renaming of their barangay.
