Origin of the name Balintawak
This barangay was created during the Liberal Party administration in 1949. The establishment of a new barangay was due to the distance of the children in this barrio from nearby schools. Habitual absenting was the problem and the schoolchildren finally dropped before the semester ended. Fortunately, there was an extension class opened at the chapel of San Jose Norte. The late Agalito Valmoria, then a municipal councilor, opposed to the opening of a new class because of the nearby schools. So, on that occasion, the concerned citizens applied for the creation of a new barrio comprising the pieces of land from the boundaries of San Jose, San Isidro and San Agustin. This place was called Taytay. Later on, it was changed to Balintawak.
